1. Introduction

Welcome to wasTop ("we," "our," or "us"). Your privacy is of paramount importance to us. This Privacy Policy explains how wasTop handles your information when you use our mobile application (the "App").

wasTop is a local app firewall for WhatsApp. It lets users block the network access of WhatsApp and WhatsApp Business on Wi-Fi, mobile data, or both.

2. Zero Personal Data Collection

We believe in absolute privacy. wasTop does NOT collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data, user credentials, device identifiers, or network traffic.

• No Registration Required: You do not need to create an account or provide any personal information to use the App.
• No Server Storage: We do not operate external databases to store user profile information, activity logs, or browsing history.
• No Inspection of Traffic: The App does not inspect, read, or log packet contents, messages, media, or any communication sent or received by your device.

3. Use of Android VpnService (Local VPN)

wasTop utilizes the Android VpnService API strictly to perform local on-device network filtering.

Key Aspects of Our Local VPN Implementation:

• 100% On-Device / Local Processing: The VPN connection established by wasTop operates entirely on your Android device. Your internet traffic is never routed through external servers or third-party VPN providers.
• Purpose: The VpnService is used exclusively to pause network traffic to selected target applications (e.g., WhatsApp) according to your preferences (Wi-Fi, Mobile Data, or Both).
• No Remote Tunnel or Data Interception: We do not create a remote VPN tunnel, perform deep packet inspection, decrypt HTTPS traffic, or collect data through the VPN interface.

4. Local Data Storage

All user preferences (such as selected target applications and Wi-Fi/Mobile Data blocking toggles) are stored locally on your device using standard Android SharedPreferences.

To show the relevant controls, the App checks only whether WhatsApp (com.whatsapp) and WhatsApp Business (com.whatsapp.w4b) are installed. This result is used locally, is not transmitted, and is not used to identify you.

This data remains strictly on your device and can be cleared at any time by uninstalling the App or clearing App data in Android System Settings.

5. Third-Party Services & Advertising

The current version of wasTop contains no advertising SDK, analytics SDK, account system, or third-party service. It does not sell, share, or transmit data to third parties.

6. Permissions Requested

The App declares the following Android permissions and service configuration strictly for its local firewall functionality:

• android.permission.ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Required to detect whether your device is connected to Wi-Fi or Cellular Data to apply your blocking settings correctly.
• android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE and android.permission.FOREGROUND_SERVICE_SPECIAL_USE: Required to keep the local firewall service active while the user has enabled blocking and to show an ongoing notification.
• android.permission.BIND_VPN_SERVICE: The App's VpnService is protected by this Android system permission. It is used only to create the local VPN interface that blocks the selected app's network access.

7. Children's Privacy

wasTop does not knowingly collect or solicit any personal information from children under the age of 13. The App is a general productivity tool suitable for all users.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated "Effective Date." We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
